FKF Division Two Northern Zone Pool A Kicks Off in Style as RWAFA FC Claim Crucial Away Win
The FKF Division Two Northern Zone Pool A season officially kicked off over the weekend, delivering excitement, goals and early talking points across different venues. One of the standout fixtures saw RWAFA FC secure an important 2-0 away victory over Sparki Youth at RG Ngala Stadium on Saturday.
The match began with RWAFA FC showing clear intent, pressing high and taking the initiative from the opening minutes. The visitors, led by forwards Athman Bori and Bakari Chonga, created several chances but lacked the clinical edge needed to break the deadlock. Despite their dominance, the first half ended goalless as Sparki Youth managed to hold on defensively.
RWAFA FC’s persistence finally paid off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Bakari Chonga broke the deadlock with a superb finish after a well-weighted pass from Athman Bori, sending the visiting supporters into celebration. Sparki Youth struggled to recover from the setback and continued to come under pressure. In the 85th minute, misfortune struck for the hosts as Rubeya Hamad scored an own goal while attempting to clear danger, sealing a 2-0 victory for RWAFA FC.
Speaking after the match, RWAFA FC head Coach Shakur expressed satisfaction with the result but admitted his side must improve their finishing.
“Of course I am happy with the important away win, but we must work on our finishing. We created many chances and could have won this game 5-0. We will address this before our next match at home against our rivals Wayzata Boys. We will be ready for the task.”
On the other hand, Sparki Youth’s Coach Ankoli Abdalla was not overly surprised by the outcome, citing limited preparation time ahead of the season opener.
“We played somehow above average, but our opponents were sharper and better prepared. We hardly had enough training sessions because the fixtures were released abruptly. At least now we know where to improve. Our next match is against Mombasa All Stars and we will not be ready to lose again.”
Elsewhere in Pool A, the newcomers from the regional league endured a tough welcome. Wayzata Boys suffered a heavy 6-2 defeat at the hands of Goodhope, while Samba Boys were convincingly beaten 6-0 by Junior FC.
