Pyypl Expands Regulated Digital Asset Payments Presence in Kazakhstan

Pyypl Kazakhstan Ltd. has activated permission from the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) to provide money services in relation to digital assets, extending its existing regulated payments licence in Kazakhstan.

Issued on April 23, 2026, the permission provides Pyypl with a regulated foundation to develop new cross-border payment, settlement and liquidity capabilities using digital asset infrastructure, subject to applicable regulations and licence conditions.

Pyypl says the move is not about offering digital assets as an end product, but about using the underlying technology to make cross-border movement of money faster, more efficient and less dependent on multiple intermediaries, currencies and pre-funded accounts.

The Kazakhstan approval adds to Pyypl’s regulatory footprint, which includes oversight in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain, and strengthens its strategy of connecting traditional payment rails with digital asset liquidity.

“Digital assets are not the end product. They are part of the infrastructure that can make cross-border payments faster, more liquid and more efficient,” said Muhamad Masri, CEO of Pyypl.

The company plans to progressively develop these capabilities in Kazakhstan, with implementation subject to regulatory requirements, licence conditions, partner readiness and customer demand.

Pyypl Kazakhstan currently operates as a FinTech Lab Participant under the AFSA FinTech Lab framework, with its activities subject to specific regulatory limitations and requirements.
