Gor Mahia Secure KES 5 Million Sponsorship Deal with Kansai Plascon
Gor Mahia have announced a new sponsorship partnership with Kansai Plascon Kenya Limited, formerly Sadolin Paints, in a deal worth KES 5 million running until the end of the current season, with an option to renew.
Under the agreement, PLASCON branding will appear on the right sleeve of the Gor Mahia match shirt, becoming the club’s second sponsor alongside main shirt partner SportPesa.
The deal was officially unveiled and signed earlier this morning at the Mövenpick Nairobi Hotel in Westlands. The event was attended by Gor Mahia stakeholders, including club officials, a section of players and fans.
The partnership was facilitated by Gor Mahia’s new Patron, Eliud Owalo, who recently assumed the role following the passing of the club’s long-term patron, Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga.
Speaking during the unveiling, Owalo described the deal as the beginning of a broader commercial drive for the club.
“It’s our pleasure this morning to unveil this partnership between Gor Mahia and Plascon Paints. This is just the first initiative. We will be going into the market to pursue more sponsors for this club. We want to transform Gor Mahia into the best club in Africa,” said Owalo.
He further assured Plascon of the strength of the Gor Mahia brand and the club’s commitment to long-term growth.
“I want to assure Plascon that they are partnering with a very strong brand in Gor Mahia. Our vision is to transform the club into the most successful club, and we look forward to partnering with more private sector players. As a club, we will ensure we have good policies and structures to guide Gor Mahia to the desired success path,” he added.
Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier emphasized the importance of corporate governance in the club’s transformation journey.
“We need to transform the club and think of corporate governance. There must be a first step towards that journey, and Plascon supports the move,” said Rachier.
On their part, Plascon expressed confidence in the partnership, terming it a meeting of shared values.
“We wanted to have a partnership with an organisation, and when we did our research, Gor Mahia perfectly fit our desire. This partnership between Gor Mahia and Plascon is like two kings coming together. We share common values and ethics, and we are looking forward to walking the journey together,” said Plascon Managing Director Kota Enami.
On the pitch, Gor Mahia are currently third on the FKF Premier League table with 20 points from 11 matches, trailing leaders Kenya Police FC and second-placed Tusker FC as the season continues to gather pace.
