A Historic Day for Youth Football in Kwale: FKF-Kwale Branch Launches U13 & U15 Leagues

Ukunda, Kwale – In a landmark move aimed at nurturing grassroots football talent, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Kwale Branch on Saturday

officially launched the FKF-Kwale U13 and U15 Youth Leagues at the Ukunda Showground. This vibrant event marked a major step forward in the development of youth football in the region.

Led by Chairman Hamisi Mwakoja and the dynamic CEO Shaban Mwero, the FKF-Kwale Branch is clearly steering in the right direction, showing commitment to identifying and developing young football talent across the county.

The launch brought together 26 enthusiastic and talented youth teams, each ready to compete, grow, and display the passion that makes football a powerful force in community development.

In a symbolic and practical gesture to support the teams, each was presented with a size 4 football – ideal for their age group and skill development. This is more than just equipment; it’s an investment in the dreams of Kwale’s future stars.

One of the highlights of the event was the presence of the Diani Junior Cup Nairobi team, who graced the launch and interacted with the young players, offering inspiration, guidance, and motivation. Their presence added prestige and energy to the event, bridging the gap between different youth football communities.

“Today is not just about launching a league, but launching futures. These balls symbolize hope, opportunity, and the start of something big for our children,” said FKF-Kwale Secretary Makoroma

The league will be structured into pools, with fixtures set to be released soon. Coaches, parents, and local football lovers are encouraged to support the initiative as these young players begin their journey.

“With the support of FKF and local stakeholders, we are proud to create platforms that allow youth to shine. Our goal is to ensure Kwale is recognized for its football talent at the national level,” said CEO Shaban Mwero.

The energy, organization, and community involvement on display today made it clear: Kwale football is on the rise.

📅 Stay tuned – fixtures for each pool will be shared soon!

🎉 Let’s support our young champions –the journey starts now!
