Unbeaten Police Face High-Flying Gor Mahia in Super Sunday Thriller
All roads lead to Nyayo Stadium tomorrow, Sunday, November 9, 2025, as Kenya Police FC lock horns with Gor Mahia FC in what promises to be the highlight of the FKF Premier League weekend. Kick-off is set for 4:00 PM EAT.
This fixture brings together last season’s reigning champions, Police FC, and the country’s record champions, Gor Mahia FC, in an early-season test of strength and strategy. It may not decide the title yet, but it offers a glimpse into how both sides are shaping up under their new coaches and what to expect in the battles ahead.
Form Guide
Gor Mahia currently sit 2nd on the log with 13 points from six matches, having recorded four wins, one draw, and one loss. Police FC, on the other hand, occupy 9th place with 8 points from four matches, remaining unbeaten with two wins and two draws.
Police have played fewer matches due to their involvement in the CAF Champions League, where they eliminated Mogadishu City Club in the first preliminary round before bowing out to Al Hilal of Sudan in the second and final round of the group stage qualifiers.
Coaching Dynamics
Both teams are under new management this season.
Gor Mahia’s Ghanaian head coach Charles Akonnor took over before the start of the season in August 2025 and has been tasked with restoring the club’s dominance after a trophyless campaign last season.
Police FC, meanwhile, recently appointed Serbian coach Dušan Stojanović, who replaced Burundian tactician Etienne Ndayiragije following a slow start to the season. Ndayiragije had made history by guiding Police FC to their maiden league title last term but was dismissed on October 29, 2025.
Stojanović began his tenure on a positive note, guiding Police to victory over Sofapaka in his first game in charge.
Head-to-Head Record
Tomorrow’s clash will be the ninth league meeting between the two sides since Police FC’s promotion to the top flight in 2021.
In their previous eight encounters, Police have won three, Gor Mahia two, while three have ended in draws.
Last season, Police collected four points from Gor Mahia on their way to clinching the FKF Premier League title; a record they will be keen to defend at home.
Players to Watch
Police FC’s attack has been modest but efficient this season, netting two goals and conceding none in four matches.
New signing Edward Omondi, who joined from Sofapaka, opened his account against his former side last week, while Clinton Kinanga struck earlier in the season against debutants APS Bomet.
Midfield maestro Marvin Nabwire returns to the squad after serving his suspension for a red card received against APS Bomet; a boost for Stojanović’s side.
For Gor Mahia, Felix Oluoch, signed from Posta Rangers, has been the man in form with three goals, while Ghanaian Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw has added two. K’Ogalo have scored nine goals and conceded only two so far — one via a penalty and one from open play, in their recent 1-1 draw against Ulinzi Stars.
Injury-wise, Lewis Bandi remains unavailable, while Adu-Kwaw will undergo a late fitness test ahead of the clash.
From the Camp
Speaking ahead of the match, Gor Mahia assistant coach Kobi Bismark-Mensah expressed optimism about his side’s preparation and form.
“We have done very well in our last few games, and we want to continue with the momentum. We have prepared very well for Sunday’s match,” he told the club’s official media team.
With both teams eager to assert dominance and the two new coaches seeking to stamp their authority, tomorrow’s clash is expected to deliver top-quality football and tactical intrigue.
