The M's have it: Mohammed, Mathews, Michira. Down the Memory lane of the Mozzart Bet Cup Individual Award Winners for the last 3 editions

The dust has settled on the thrilling 2025 FKF Mozzart Bet Cup, with Nairobi United crowned champions and a new trio of individual award winners etching their names into the tournament's history books. As we celebrate the heroics of MVP Ernest Muhammed, Golden Glove winner Gad Mathews, and Golden Boot recipient Brian Michira, "Game ni 90" takes a moment to reflect on the past three editions and the players who shone brightest.

2025:GOALKEEPERS STEAL THE SHOW

The 2025 edition will be remembered as the year of the shot-stoppers. Nairobi United's cup-winning run was a fairytale, and their guardian between the posts, Ernest Muhammed, was the protagonist. His heroics earned him the coveted Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Muhammed’s journey was defined by nerves of steel, saving three penalty kicks in the semifinal against Mara Sugar and the decisive seventh spot-kick in a 6-5 shootout against KCB in the round of 16.

Top it all off, he denied Gor Mahia's Alpha Onyango from the spot in open play during the 87th minute of the final, a save that was instrumental in securing the title for his team.

While Muhammed took home the MVP, Gor Mahia's custodian Gad Mathews was duly recognized with the Golden Glove award. Mathews was a rock in defense, keeping four clean sheets throughout the tournament.

-Gor Mahia 3-0 Kenya School of Government FC (KSG) in the Round of 64

- Gor Mahia 5-0 Githurai Allstars (GAS FC) in the Round of 32

- Gor Mahia 2-0 Bandari FC in the Round of 16

-Gor Mahia 2-0 Kariobangi Sharks in the Quarterfinals

On the other end of the pitch, Shabana FC's lethal forward Brian Michira Migiro claimed the Golden Boot with a remarkable five goals. Michira's journey to the top scorer award included a brace in the Round of 64 against Solian City and hat-trick in the Round of 32 against Plantech FC.

2024:POLICE FILL THE ARMOURY

In 2024, the accolades were swept by the champions, Kenya Police FC. Versatile idfielder David Owino  Ambulu (Messi ) was the engine of their successful campaign, leading his team to their maiden title with a series of outstanding performances that saw him named Most Valuable Player.

Just like in 2025, a goalkeeper also earned a top individual honor. Patrick Matasi, the veteran shot-stopper for Kenya Police, was awarded the Golden Glove with an  impressive record of four clean sheets. Matasi's clean sheet run included crucial knockout matches:

-Kenya Police vs Posta Rangers in the Round of 32

-Kenya Police vs. Sofapaka in the Quarter-finals

-Kenya Police vs AFC Leopards in the Semi-finals

-Kenya Police vs KCB in the Final

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards' forward Arthur Gitego won the Golden Boot with five goals, including a brace against Compel in the quarters and a hat-trick against PAC University in the Round of 32.

ABANA BEINGO BRING IT HOME.

The 2023 edition saw Kakamega Homeboyz lift their first major trophy, and their star man, Moses Shummah, was deservedly named the Most Valuable Player. His performances were a driving force behind the team's historic first title.

The Golden Boot went to Tusker FC's Stewart Omondi, who found the back of the net four times. His goal-scoring feats included a sensational hat-trick against Berlin FC in the Round of 32 and a crucial goal against Rainbow FC in the Round of 16.

Rounding out the list of winners for 2023 was AFC Leopards' custodian Levis Opiyo, who took home the Golden Glove. Opiyo's four clean sheets, came in key tournament matches
