BREAKING: Naibois Secure Promotion to the FKF Premier League

Nairobi United have officially booked their place in the 2025/26 FKF Premier League after a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory against FKF National Super League debutants 3K FC at Dandora Stadium earlier today.
The high-stakes encounter began with a shock for the Nairobi side as 3K FC, hailing from Embu, took the lead in the 12th minute via an unfortunate own goal. A dangerous cross into the box deflected off a Nairobi United defender, wrong-footing the goalkeeper and putting the visitors ahead.
However, the setback only seemed to ignite Nairobi United’s determination. Just before halftime, Frank Ouya produced a moment of brilliance, rifling a ferocious volley into the back of the net to level the score. The momentum swung in United’s favor, and early in the second half, Ouya was at it again — this time finishing from a tight angle on the left wing to give his side the lead, a goal that would ultimately secure their place in Kenya’s top flight.
The crucial win elevated Nairobi United to 66 points after 32 matches, opening an 11-point gap over second-placed APS Bomet, who have 55 points from 30 matches. Darajani Gogo sit third on the table with 50 points from 30 games.
Today’s achievement marks a significant milestone for the club, which was acquired by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja in September 2024. Upon acquisition, the governor made no secret of the club’s ambitious goal: earning promotion to the FKF Premier League. Less than a year later, that vision has become reality.
Nairobi United’s rapid rise through the Kenyan football pyramid has been nothing short of remarkable. Formed in 2018, the club began its journey in the Nairobi Regional League during the 2018/19 season, where they emerged champions and earned promotion to the FKF Division Two League. They competed there during the 2020/21 season, then climbed to the FKF Division One League.
In the 2021/22 season, Nairobi United finished ninth in Division One with 35 points. But it was during their second season at that level that they turned heads — finishing second in Zone A and earning a promotion playoff against Zone B’s runners-up, Zoo FC. The playoff, held on August 6, 2023, at RVIST Grounds in Nakuru, was abandoned due to crowd trouble while Nairobi United led 1-0 courtesy of an 85th-minute goal by Brian Lusamukha. The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) later awarded United the win, securing their historic promotion to the National Super League.
From humble beginnings to a Premier League ticket in under a decade, Nairobi United’s rise serves as an inspiring story of ambition, resilience, and growth in Kenyan football. The “Naibois” will now shift their focus to preparing for life in the top tier, where they’ll look to cement their place among the country’s elite football clubs.
