Harambee Stars Midfielder Ben Stanley Omondi Donates 13 Pairs of Boots to Migori Youth FC

Earlier this week, Harambee Stars midfielder Ben Stanley Omondi gave back to the club that shaped his football journey by donating 13 pairs of boots to the young players of Migori Youth FC. The gesture was a heartfelt reminder that success is never complete without remembering where it all began.

"Thank you Ben Stanley Omondi for giving back to Migori Youth," wrote Migori Youth CEO Mark Oduor on Facebook, celebrating the midfielder's generosity.

Migori Youth FC is a community club competing in the second tier of national football, the FKF National Super League. Located in the football-loving Migori County in the Nyanza Region, the club enjoys passionate support locally and across the country. It is the highest level football club from the area, and most fans see it as their home club. Migori Youth is dedicated to empowering young footballers aged 9 to 19, helping them reach their full potential on and off the field while grooming them to positively impact their families and communities. The club works closely with schools and community leaders to identify and nurture talent.

Ben’s journey with Migori Youth began when he was just nine years old. He came to the club with a dream of becoming a professional footballer. Under Coaches David Odhiambo and Aol Omondi, he honed his skills, balanced his education, and even earned a scholarship at St. Peter’s Mumias. While his parents later moved to Nairobi, Ben chose to stay in Migori to continue developing his talent. That determination would carry him to the top levels of Kenyan football.

He has played for Sofapaka, Ulinzi Stars, and Kakamega Homeboyz, earning multiple Player of the Match awards along the way. At Sofapaka, he was named Club MVP for two months. This year, he joined Gor Mahia FC, still on loan from Migori Youth, and has made an immediate impact. On his debut for Gor Mahia, he helped the team to a 4-0 win over Mara Sugar by delivering key passes for two goals. Days later, he provided an assist in a Mozzart Bet Cup match against Kariobangi Sharks and scored in the Mozzart Bet Cup final against Nairobi United.

Ben’s rise to the Harambee Stars reflects his talent and hard work. Technically, Ben earned his first call-up during the Mapinduzi Cup, but since the tournament is not recognized by FIFA, appearances there did not count as official caps. He later received his official call-up for World Cup qualifiers against Gabon and Gambia. He made his full national team debut in an international friendly against Chad during a FIFA window, marking the occasion with an assist. He also featured in Kenya’s history-making CHAN team that reached the quarterfinals of a continental event for the first time.

His football journey started early as part of the Kenya Under 14 team in the Southampton U14 Shield Tournament, where Kenya lifted the Shield trophy against European giants such as Chelsea, FC Porto, and Southampton FC.

The donation of boots to Migori Youth is more than just a gift. It is a symbol of hope and inspiration for the next generation. It shows young players that dreams can be achieved and that those who succeed can still honor their roots.

Ben Stanley Omondi’s gesture highlights the importance of giving back to grassroots football. It strengthens the bond between aspiring footballers and their mentors while showing that football is not just about glory, it is also about community and gratitude.
